What is Picture Sheffield dot com?

Picturesheffield.com is the Internet version of Sheffield Local Studies Library's computerised image system. This website is only a representative selection from our collections, and most images are pre-1950. The site currently hosts around 11,000 pictures from our collections

The project has been made possible by funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The full version of Picture Sheffield, which has around 37,000 images, can be found at the Local Studies Library, Central Library, Surrey Street, Sheffield S1 1XZ.

On this website you can search the database by subject and see thumbnail images of the matching photographs.
